My GQ has a mistury vibration and droning sensation thought the car when hitting the 100km/h mark. The problem disappears as soon as i put the clutch in. The car has a 4" lift and runs 35s. Any Ideas??

Na no caster plates i have drop boxes instead. What makes it strange is when ya get upto speed 100-110 and put the clutch in it seems to go away, been told that i might be the tailshaft but i dont understand why it would dissapear with the clutch is as the drive line is still spinning>

Does it get worse/better if you feather/back off the throttle?

Better, its not so much a vibration its more of a drone ( like out of balance tyres )

i get a similar sort of thing at higher speeds like speed wobbles and i think its due to me having a loose wheel bearing?? and shot bushes? mine only goes away if i slow right down like from 100- 60 but its only occasionaly and only started hapening since i have had smaller tyres my mate gets it in his gq aswell i think its a comon problem when lifting them

My shorty had a similar problem, and it was the driveshaft uni's. At first a good grease would solve the problem, then a replacement was needed.
If the problem has only started since the lift, I'd say try gearbox spacers to see if this helps, as its cheap, and you can even use washers to start with.
If not, maybe the UJ's?

I have replaced all the wheel brg's and all the king pin brg's and double checked them. I think that you could be on the money with the uni's as i have been speaking to a drive shaft mob and they sais to start there, ill get it balanced and change the uni's. Cheers for the ideas.

i have a vibration in my gq at 80 - 100 and it is the out put shaft bearing in the gearbox just take your rear tailshaft out and drive it in front wheel drive and see if the noise is still there or has it moved etc.

It is a long wheel base. If it is the output shaft brg does the box need to come out?

If you do try to drive it with tthe rear tail shaft removed make sure that you remove the handbrake drum as well as it is the tail shaft that holds it on.
I would bet that it is the rear uni at the diff that is gone, they make a droning noise as they are wearing out. Mine had less than haft a pin on one side before I realised, however it made very little noise and only at 80-100kph under acceleration.

I'm going to check my tail shaft tonight - I noticed a droning on the weekend at a steady 100 km/h.

Thing is, I only noticed it after putting another on set of (quiet) wheels and tyres.

So it could be tyres out of balance or I'm only noticing it now because the tyre noise has decreased. One of the rear wheels doesnt have any weights and has a small ding in the rim so its a suspect.......
