I dont read much about the model before the TJ, the YJ... thinking it may have been a cheaper option to the TJ with its leaf springs, and minimal interior.
Did many of them come into the country, are they any good.
See a lot of pics from the states with them sprung over, seems a cheap way to get sum bigger tyres under them...
Thanks again Jeep'rs

The YJ was not imported into Aust.
A few were privately imported.
But without substainal mods they aren't very desirable anyhow......
Some had the gutless 4cyl, other got the old 4.2 carby - the later models got the much more desireable 4.0L as used in XJ/TJs etc.And it's not just the engine but the transmissions were less than desirable with the AX5 (not the TJ AX15) and the pug tranny commonly used....
The front diff had a crappy vacuum disconnect which was very problematic and not required...Whereas the TJ ditched the vacuum disconnect..
The rear diff will generally be the ubber-crappy Dana35 compared to the TJ D44.
If someone has a YJ they will generally want a premium for it - the TJs are getting cheap just get one of those and be happy.....
