i have a standard maverick with what i think would have standard ratios. if i decided to change the diff ratios for 33's would i be able to move over the ARB locker from the original to the new one easily?

Also my mav SWB XLT at the moment is doing 2600rpm at 110 km/h is this normal and also doing 3000rpm at 130km/h it is a 5 speed manual 1992 (update) running 31's at the moment

anothing thing is that when you put the clutch in should the revs drop to idleing instantly. casue most of the time it slowly comes down to idle revs. is this normal?

Im not sure about what you just said about the revs coming down slowly to idle.. it sounds like that the clutch is still gripping when the foot is off the clutch pedal... ???? (clutch adjustment???)

When you say the original "ARB" locker, are you sure you don't have the factory vacuum locker? (quite common on the XLT's) You would have 3.9 diff gears if so. I'm not certain if the other (4.1, 4.3, 4.6) ring gears will fit on the housing. Wendle would know...

Sounds like your clutch needs an adjustment, has it been getting harder to shift over the last months? Clutch adjustment is a piece of cake to do.

What month '92?

He is definately talking about an arb locker, the dealer told him it had factory vacuum locker, but it had lsd, so the dealer paid for locker to be put in.

The Diff ratios are marked on your complance plate, it will say HG41 or HG39 HG43 which is the ratios.

39 = 3.9
41 = 4.1
43 = I'll buy em off you if you swap!

if it is definatly an ARB locker ,
no hassels changing ratios , & keeping locker !!! Very Happy

is there an air compressor in the car.....that is used to operate the ARB locker.
the crown wheel and pinion change should be done by someone who knows what they are doing .

are you taking your foot off the throttle before you put the clutch in??.. Just joking Very Happy

Disconnect the throttle cable and make sure it is moving freely, they get a bit of shit in them sometimes and bind up. The return spring may also be about to go "twang"... Is your car petrol?? There is a little doodad, can't for the life of me remember his name, on the nikki carb to slow deceleration, to make sure all the fuel is burnt clean. He may have seen better days..

The gears will be cool, as long as they are made for / came out of a GQ. GU front is very slightly different.

my dad was saying that the revs come down slowly when u put the clutch in and i see it also. should it be like this or just drop from for example, 2600rpm to 1200 rpm instantly, or does it normally take about 3-4 seconds for a 4.2 petrol

it is a ARB locker casue it was put in by ARB and it definately did not have a factory one. LONG STORY. hey ben (marin).

How do you adjust the clutch, i would have no idea..

It is a december 1991, which is classified as a 92 whcih is the new update model with the while dials on the speedo rather than that yellow shit.

There is an ARB in car air compressor which was put in the same time as the locker.

Petrol/carbie revs drop slowly. Normal, can be worked on to improve.

2600 at 110kph also normal.

My car is petrol 4.2. i will have a look and might get dad to help me adjust it tonight.

sweet bazzle, thanks, just unsure casue dads TI GQ which is auto sits on about 2200 i think he said at 110km/h
