I just bought a 98 Bravo Dual Cab 2.6 - can anyone tell if these cars have catastrophic failures when the timing belt snaps? (bent valves etc?) or is no big deal at all?

The 2.6 petrol motors do not have a timing belt ...they have a timing chain.
