Can anybody tell me if any of the MWB Cruisers are on coils, I know the Bunderas are, but just wondering about the Middies...

I am currently having a 86' Coil resprayed, it is on leaves, but if any of them are on coils that would make for a nice ride, and easy mods, like easy fitment of airbags maybe...

If they are run on coils, unlike the older ones, would the body be a straight swap, aslong as it is a petty engine like mine and not diesel, that would cause hassles...

Regs,

Damn...

Yeah, I have heard of a 75 series that Redlands 4x4 in Brissie converted to coils, with a kit from Calbah...
It was supposed to be a bolt in unit, but some fab was needed, (not a problem anyway, just get that done easy enough).
But apparently you had to take most of it out to get the GBox out if needed...

I haven't seen it myself but, that would be a hassle...
I would like the advantage of airbags but it would all come down to cost...

i wood stick with the leaf set up fellas as the middy is abit over 2 tin dry weight and unless you are plannin on cutting and lightening your middy coils will only add to the roll over factor as you can see by fatass75 cruiser tray back you can get plenty of travel outta leafs armsup

More rooting around than its worth. Although the curent model HZJ74 has coils on the front like a 78/79 series.Dont try and buy one as theyre only on sale in Europe and Japan not here where they are needed.Apparrently some 80s models were fitted with coils all round (not to be confused with bundeera) but not out here.

I was certain the later models of the FRP Middies came in a coil package, I have seen them with my own eyes (yes I know what a Bundy looks like, so don't even say it). Surely there must be some middy gurus out there...

They are prolly rare as rocking horse sh!t, so a straight swap would be hard because of the availablity...

Blue they did come in swb but are a 70 series. One for sale in Perth at the moment its a 91 HZJ70 which has the 1HZ 4.2 diesel $14k but rare as rockin horse poo with that motor. Most have the 3B or 3F
Blue or anyone else this sight has photos and cutaway drawings of 73/74 with coils www.brian894x4.com

i have seen a MWB sized toyo with the front looking like an 80 - two square lights on each side, but the rear shaped like a 70 series, i think it was coil.

Yeah, the early prado in japan had the front clip like a bundy, not the classic 70 clip.

A mate of mine had an FRP middy with suspension seats and lekky windows, LX I think was the model designation.

The late FRP's I have seen on coils were not conversions, they were factory production, sold by Toyota Australia (not grey imports).

I'd like to see pics of the soft top... I'm planning to do it a lot further down the track.

Your parents don't want to get rid of a couple of the bench seats from the back of the troopy do they???

Trying to find some to put in the Middy but they're bloody impossible to get

I havent actually asked them if they want to get rid of any, they only have 1 of the 4 benchies in the back now, as they load it up and go camping...
(we kids all have cars now, so not needed)...

I am not sure if i want a bench, but i prolly wont, might make a draw setup for the back (lockable) to throw the soft top and stuff in...

Soft top will be custom made to cover the custom roll bars, so plenty of options open there...

Very Happy I just cant wait, should look sh!t hot... Cool
