Has anyone raised their petrol tank after doing a body lift? (SWB Pajero)

I have rewelded the tow bar to suit the body lift and have to get the rear muffler up and out the way aswell (it took a hell of a beating on the weekend - Toolangi)

This leaves me with the lowest point of contact being the juice tank - which already holds about 5 litres less than it should.

Theres plenty of room above the tank but I'm a little unsure of how to go about it

I have wondered the same thing. I have a bodylift on order for my "new" GenI LWB, and noticed that even before the lift, there IS some room. Considering the beating my SWB tank took, I can only imagine how the new one will fare!

The back mounts look easy enough, but the front part may be a little trickier. Plus you've got that brake line hanger to contend with...

Oh wait a minute: Are we talking about the same tank? Confused I'm referring to the 3000 V6 MPI tank...

PHIL

Yes it has been done on a lwb Gen 2 3.5 V6 (remember they have a factory 30mm body lift over the earlier 3.0 V6).

After my 2" b/l I did notice a lot more room to raise the tank and also raise the top shock mounts, I will be looking at doing this next year.

It's a good mod, but I like the idea of pulling off all the lower plastic trim plugging the holes and coating it with black herculiner then have a custom rear bumper made up that wraps under the rear quarter to protect it from rocks etc. Some of the Yanks have herculined their lower panels and it looks very cool Cool

Works good on the Gen I too! Just don't forget to buff up the paint a bit first, or the edges will peel... I did the inside floor also, and removed the metal drain plugs and replaced with rubber ones. Smile

'Course, I ain't no Yank!
