thanks for all the info guys, its really helpful.
can anyone tell me anymore about the 74 series. is the only difference they use 13bt donk? is this donk heaps better/on par/whatever with 3b?
i do realise it is turbo'd, but what else?
might be checking out 74 series $8500, comapared to $8000 for 73 series. only problem don't any real details, pics, k's, not mechanical check. what do people think???
Cheers

Bluey,
The only difference is the turbo engine, everything else is identical. The 13B-T is a direct injected turbo and has a different head design than the indirect injected 3B. I have a BJ74 that I am still trying to get into the States.
Is there any way you can shoot pics of the rear seatbelt mounting points on the floor? For some reason the Japanese domestic market BJ74's don't have rear seatbelts.

JAKE, its farkin awesome i got so many plans, gotto re register tomorrow and then can cut sick. plan on taking 33's off hilux and swap over onto middy, also put lower leafs in lux. but put canopy back on it and now cant get into garage
got it for $7500, was happy with that. had chips in paint, bullseyes, but others looked had rust in panels. it really going to get trashed anyway, paint wise. couldnt find any rust. diffs, transfer good, engine pulling power of a tractor, bit noisy but getting service local arb store monday. oh and under bonnet insulation. interior was good, just tear in drivers seat. couldn't find anything wrong with engine mounts, or exhaust. air con crap. air compressor conversion
came with workshop manual, cd player and 6 cd stacker, spare carpet throughout, spare rear doors cut down no glass, 2 spare radios, spare tyre (other than one on rear door), driving lights and fog lights. bullbar will be going to wreckers. nothing wrong with it, aluminium and want to swap for steel winch bar. think that is all.
oh yeah, the transfer case. hydraulic switching is way cool
spent some time sunday morning, put in first car seat point. put car seat in and took missus and billy lid for a drive. both love it!
has lucas fuel filter and water trap already, thats saved me some $$$. just need to get finer filter now.

Dave, haven't got digi camera yet but am working on that. my rear seat back folds forward (flat) then whole thing tilts forward again vertical against front seats. about doubles rear space. rear seatbelts on sides bolted to rollbar, middle seat belt and all clips are connected to seat frame, which locks onto two short steel bars on floor. er, hope you can understand, will try to cam soon.

you can bolt on an aftermarket snail shaped automatic 'switch' to the exhaust, might make it go faster. |

i agree with 383FJ45.... a snail is the best thing for the standard 3b donk lance and the cheapest most reliable turbo kit ive seen and come across is the SHWITZER TURBO KIT.......DENCO in wagga wagga make em up ive been quoted $3500 ... thats for turbo kit... fitting ...and a 2 1/2inch to 3inch mandrel bent exhaust fitted too |

The Japanese versions also lack the roll bar to bolt tha seat belts at the top. Also the rear seat is held in place by only one catch instead of 2.
I mentioned that because it may affect the floor mount positions
Easiest way around it is to take the seat out and lic it as a 2 seater unless you want use it for family ect
Sorry I cant do the photos as Im a little technologically challenged |
