oh ok ... what did i do wrong? i did this
...
= ((2xz^-2)^12) (x^-8z^4)) / (16x^4z^8)
= (4096x^12z^-24) * (x^-8z^4) / 16x^4z^-8
|
That's where you've gone wrong. You've accidentally inversed the exponent for z in the denominator. Only inverse the exponent when you take it from the denominator to the numerator
ie 2y / x^3 = 2yx^-3
Fixing that up means you end up with x cancelling out as before, the constant works out to 256 as per your calcs, but z^(-24 +4 -8) = z^-28, not z^(-24 +4 +8) = z^-12 as you've got it. |

I'm an engineer... a hydro-ceramic engineer, but I'm buggered if I can work out half or full flush.
Those equations are like gibberish to me!
G'day night crew!
Think I'll start my days off with a visit to my mate's bakery for a fresh pie or two tonight. Mmmm... |

nah, i did civil engineering unfortunately. nowhere near the money in structures that there is in oil / gas / mining. you really need to be mining / chemical / mechanical engineer to get into those industries though.
bro-in-law in perth (mech eng, gas pipeline engineer) got a $60k payrise last year not a promotion or anything ... just keeping up with the market! |
