Quick query as I am too lazy to sift back until I find the topic. Can I put GU ring and pinion into a GQ. I may have access to the R&P from a 3L turbo diesel, which I think is a 1:4.625 ratio - correct me if wrong Rolling Eyes . The 3L motor burned a hole in #1 piston and the owner is looking to put a V8 chev instead and will need to change diff ratios - could be going for a good price if they fit. Laughing
Any answers will be helpful.
Cheers

GU manual ZD30's came with 4.3:1 diffs. The complcating part is that the rear diff is the H260. From everything I have read/been told, usually in forums like this, that the ring and pinion are not interchangable due to the difference in physical size, the H260 being alot bigger (260mm dia as opposed to 233mm dia.)

Hope this helps.

I don't think any of the s litre GU's have the H260, C ould be wrong, but I am pretty sure it is limited to the traybacks, ad the bigger petrol motors??

Dan, if your gears came from a GU take your RD09 front locker back to ARB and swap it for a RD78A. The champfer on the crown wheel is different.
Sorry, this slipped my mind Confused

3 Litre manual Gu's come with the h260 37 spline axles.
Autos have h233b

The odd manual has a h233b fitted (factory shortage???)

Oh Well, next idea. So do the GQ 2.8L have the 4.625 ratios or are they a completely aftermarket option.
