The traxxas coil over shocks are great for our rockcrawling trucks....

The only trouble with the traxxas big bore shocks is the end caps.
Because of the fine thread they have the end cap likes to pop off under pressure. Other than that i use them on my clodzilla (bumpy) with great results. Its amazing what some supaglue can do

no i dont have any big bore shocks
i want to get them, i just want to know if they give you more height and better articulation.
and how much does it cost to get 4 of the shocks and do they fit on any monster truck?

There are better aftermarket shocks out there than the Traxxas ones and big variances in price too. We've used some big Eureka Pro 1/8th scale buggy shocks on a couple of trucks with great results but they retail for $75 a pair. Buying another replacement shock won't necessarily give you more articulation. It will depend on the truck and it's current suspension set up. There are usually ways of gaining articulation just by relocating or re-thinking the shock position or motion. There are also gains to be had by changing the springs you use over the shock. Tell us a bit more so we can help.

Gobute if I was to be honest with you I'd say forget it. Although there is nothing wrong with your truck it has two inherant problems for crawling.
1) It's nitro and Nitro trucks don't crawl
2) It's a buggy chassis with big wheels. ie you'll never get it to articulate.
It's an ideal truck for letting loose in the dirt or at your local BMX track but it will never climb obstacles as well as some off the shelf truck reagrdless of how much you spend on it.

If you want a crawler, buy a TXT-1 from a shop, get a Clod off E-Bay (yes there is one in Australia at the moment for $250) or a Juggernaut from one of the few shops that still have them in stock.

Ah....Gobute....the eternal question...
Is Nitro better than electric?

Nitro does not crawl. Nitro trucks rely on a slipper clutch. They do not go slow very well and if you can get them to go slow they have no torque. They are very noisy when you do actually get them to move because you have to rev the piss out of them to get them to climb a rock and they usually end up jumping straight over it.

Electric trucks have infinite throtle control (with the right ESC), they have great compression breaking, they are quiet and they will keep running at any angle.

No contest.

The T-Maxx 2.5 is a great Nitro Truck, but it's not a crawler. The E-Maxx makes a better crawler. The X-Factor is also another good truck, and it's even got solid axles but as a crawler it wouldn't be any better than any other Nitro truck.

Get yourself a TXT-1 or a Clodbuster or a Juggernaut and come crawling with us.

how long does the txt-1 and the other battery trucks run for.

I am interested in the x-factor because it is on nitro and at camping we have nopower to run the baterries needed for an electric truck.
and also where abouts do u have these rockcrawlind evnts and days at.

hey u can charge the elcs off a 12 volt car battry in 15 to 30 mins ]
i do it to myne when we are camping and u will also find nitros will get u in truble camping at some state forests etc for the sound they make

The run time you get out of an electric truck depends on a whole bunch of factors. TXT-1 out of the box, stock motors, reasonable Electronic Speed Controller, middle of the road battery, stock gearing you'll get about 15 to 20mins of crawling.

Gear it down, get a good battery on a good charger and you can get about 40-45 minutes out of each battery. I just finished building my latest Clod project and it gets about 1.5 hours out of a pair of batteries.

Most good chargers will actually charge best running from a 12Volt battery because they are able to draw as much current as they like from a battery.

If you want to bash around at high speeds you still can with an E-Maxx and you get a bit of crawling action from it as well. If you just wanna crawl get a Tamiya Truck as I mentioned before. I'd only recommend a Nitro to you if you didn't want to do any rockcrawling at all.

If you're referring to the ones on the video.......
Shane and the boys at ORP actually dubbed the sound of real V8s onto the video. Electric trucks are very quiet, all you can hear is the gears churning and the tyres breaking traction.

Tell me what trucks you looking at and where you saw them and I can tell you what they are. Sounds like Mudcow which is a highly modified Tamiya Clodbuster and the other one may be Doom Breed, Rc_Freaks TXT-1. And yes they all have reverse due to the type of speed controller used.

Be aware these are not off the shelf trucks.
