Hey Stu, agree with Wooders. I bought mine via mail order from the States back when I was living in Hong Kong. I think it cost about US25 + 5 shipping.
Post up a few pics of your juggy. |

will do. however i will have to finish all the mods (only started after i found the mudcow site......well if he can do it)
the jug 2 has 2 mid mounted motors with 2 driveshafts and one stering servo located in the middle. i.ve fixed a stering servo on each axel to dump the mid mounted one and ditch the leaf spring set up too. i made new training arms from 6mm dia. alum. rods. and got some other tamiya oil filled alum. shocks to replace the leafs. (only 2 at the moment , having trouble finding more of the same type)
when i get the other two it will end up sitting about a 1.5" higher (not really wanting that but hey! *shroug*) it went from about 1" travel to about 5.5" now - with the other two shocks i hope to get about 6.5" to 7"
having trouble however with the manual speed controler, its all jittery and often locks on (ive cleaned it too). the resister for it caught fire just yesterday too - will have to go to a electric speed controler but not many made for two motors so i've been told. also the drive shafts keep coming off (two much travels not good for the uni's)
but when i sort these problems and get a camera / scanner. i'll take some pics.
any advice would be really appreciated too. |

Yeah, the mech speed controllers suck big time. I never ran one on my Clod, I went straight to a Novak Super Rooster Speed Controller. I brought back 5 of them from Hong Kong and I might still have one up for grabs... I jut have to check as there is a lot of interest in them.
You based in Sydney?
We should catch up for a drive (and a wheel) There are about 6 of us RC rock crawlers here in Syd now. |

Stu, you should have a chat with Matt Lowe. He lives up your way... He has a TXT1... check it out at www.tufftoys.net
And yeah the super roosters are designed for monster trucks with 2 motors. If you have any Qs about the RC stuff, just shoot me a PM / email. I have been dabbling in RC for a few years electric / nitro, and pretty much everything offroad, MTs, stadium trucks, buggies etc.
I will let you know if I have any SRs left over in a week or so. |

thanks.
i'll try to get in contact with Matt.
A mate of mine is into rc planes, he hasn't got a car so i offed to drive around to some hobbis places to have a look just before the new year. saw it / paid cash/ 3 and a half days to build it, 10 minutes to trash it / a month of mods just playing around. |

Oh that's right... you only have a TXT1 body. Forgot it was based upon the best crawler model of all time... the Clod. |

the jugg 2 is surposed to be the latest version of the clod, i don't think it as capable (well in potential flex anyway) i quess its the case of they just don't make them like they use too.
would be keen to meet ya matt. i need to get ideas (and possible help) of how to:
lower the gearing
rear locker (front later)
stop bodyroll with out loosing flex. possbily increase flex. |

Well the TXT1 supercedes the Jugg 2 which superceded the Clod, but they all significantly different.
Clod = live axle design with motors and tranmission integral with the axles. Makes for a super low CoG and much more flexibility when designing chassis and suspension configurations. The stock Clod is a cow, but heavily modified is a weapon.
Jugg2 - centre mounted transmission and motors up high on the chassis = higher CoG. Drive shafts to live axles make for a very realistic looking truck. Stock suspension is crap (no flex) but modified a Jugg can get as much articulation as a Clod. Locked F&R diffs make for some weird handling traits and the front left tyre ALWAYS lifts off the ground due to torque effects.
TXT1 - as for the Jugg2 but the suspension arrangement has been updated to a 4link F&R with cantilever linkages for suspension. Basically a cross between a highly modsified Clod and a Jugg. Very capable in stock form and handles very well unlockec. Locked it will crawl very well but suffers the same steering effects as the Jugg.
Bottom line is that the low CoG, freedom of chassis design, bulletproof drivetrain, and having the suspension action fully independant of drive forces makes the suspension travel much more freely than the Jugg and TXT-1.
Check out my page on locked diffs on MudCow.com. It will point you in the right direction. http://www.mudcow.com/Page%205.htm

We definately need to get the R/C RockCrawlers (RCRC?) together for a "trail run"....
I'm currently striping mine down to re-arrange the suspension setup. My shockies were limiting the down travel & I kept threading the rod ends as the shockie pulled apart (literally).
Locked diffs do make a huge difference (i've locked front & rear) - but handling will suffer if you are going fast (my clod doesn't ) or on hard surfaces.....If I hook into a turn on say concrete it will just roll - even at lowish speeds... But it will dig like nuthing else with all 4 wheels and just like a real 4be, if you want to climb stuff it's just so much easier.....
My only prob with climbing is my wheelbase is too short and I tend to endo heaps.....
JK I'm hanging to that esc - can't wait as my mech slider is absolutely fawked....Any idea when???
RCRCTTC? |

i'll will have to lock the diff soon. i tweaked up my 4 wheel steering setup and on the dirt it bites in with a nice rooster tail (when it dosn't roll)
the main problem is that its too fast for crawling
also saw a jeep body on a tandy rc car for a $100, that may work |

Yeah Wooders, we have been promised that the container arrives on Wed... spare a thought for us... we are still waiting on all of our furniture, clothes, appliances, bed... tight timing with the bub due.
I will drop it around as soon as it all arrives and give you a few pointers on the best way to hook it all up.
Cheers, |

Anyways your help would be appreciated - naturally we'll have to do these mods over a few beers too
Stu,
Don't waste yer $$ on that POS from Tandy... it's hard (ie brittle) plastic - first solid hit it will be a $100 bit of broken plastic....
I seriously suggest Frontline hobbies just ring 'em up and they post it too you... |
