I have another question for u all, sorry if i am getting annoying, i took my MQ diesel out today for a offroad mission and found out the hard way that my 4wd isn't working.

When the hubs r locked and the shifter in is high or low the front tailshaft spins but the wheels dont spin. (noticed this in the sand)

the 4be has so i was told after market hub lockers (sorry don't know correct name) not the standard looking ones i have on my other 4be and have seen on other MQ's and GQ's the one where u have to turn them nearly a full circle to lock them in.

Anyways i took both of them off the passenger side one looks like it had water in there at one stage but still looked like it worked. The drivers side one looked better had grease in it and looked clean and worked but the cir-clip was not on the end of the shaft was just floating around in there. i plan to put it on and tackle the problem first thing tomorrow in the chance i can go for anthoer 4wd.

So if anyone can give my some quick advise as to whether they have had simialr problems or can give other suggestions on what the problem could be 'eg' diff centre cv's etc etc

thanks in advance

If you had a problem with CV's you would kow about it, to have no drive, would mean you have snapper both front CV's,
How long have you owned this 4by?
You stated there was no circlip on the end of the shaft, so you definatly got CV's in there.
Were there any noises when driving?
just check on the lockinh hubs, that when you turn to lock them you can see the inside of the hub move in and out.
From what i believe you definatly do need the circlip in there.

When i first got my MQ it came with After Market hubs ( they worked though ). 1 full turn to left or right and it said 4x2 and 4x4 on it rather than on the nissan ones which say 'lock' or 'unlock'.
My originals looked alot like landcruiser locking hubs.
I replaced em cause i didnt like them, they worked but were obviosuly after market and i believe Nissans hubs are better otherwise y would they have continued to use them on GQ's?

Yeh Slacker my MQ did the same,I believe the AVM ones use the circlip on the cv's and the original ones dont not 100% on that though.Mine actually broke most of the little springs that keep the 2 halves together so they werent locking properly.
Good luck

You sure they are aftermarket???? My MQ has the exact same thing, and so does my spare front axle.

i may be wrong then........
Nissan must of played around with 2 sets of hubs though the ones that say lock and unlock are the ones that continued into the GQ and must be the ones that are proven most successsful.
