gday,
ever since i put a new alternator in and since doing other mods, my car hasnt charged properly and now it doesnt even click on the starter motor.
i am going to rewire all of my primary functions (starting and running of engine) to 1 battery. i am going to get a deep cycle battery for lights, stereo, indicators. all that other stuff.
i intend to use relays to keep each circuit separate but still using the original inginition swith.
looking at the wiring diagram. i see it has a computer in there, it has 4 pins. 1 going to a speed sensor, 1 going to the ground, 1 going to the regulator, and one going through the 'V.S.V.T.P. unit'.
could anyone tell me what the hell the vsvtp unit is? and what the computer does?
thanks.

Dunno about most of your questions there, but I just wanted to say that I've also recently replaced a busted alternator, and both my batteries were dead!
Maybe they didn't like the treatment of being run down, but damn, what an expensive failure. $99 each for two new run of the mill super force 4x4 batteries (490CCA). I think the ideal way to go would be the deep cycle as the secondary and move a few accesories to that (as you say). At the moment I only have a couple of things on the secondary, and given that it isn't a deep cycle, I probably shouldn't run it down anyway. Pretty useless, academic exercise really, this dual battery system for me. |
