Im putting a CT20 turbo onto my 2L hilux, does anyone know of anything else that i need to do to the engine once the turbo is on? i only plan on running lowish boost and turning the fuel up a bit if needed. i have already done a valve grind and have all new gaskets and seals.
Does anyone know much about the CT20 turbos, like max boost it will put out? im told its off a surf but was previously on a 5L
P.S i have made an adaptor to fit the turbo manifold to the head.
I lookin at getting a pyrometer, who know what operating exhaust should be?
cheers for the info |

Exhaust temp in the dump pipe should be around about 550 C i think. |

I had a 2LT in my LJ70. Max boost 11psi. You may wish to add an intercooler.
If you want better performace, far better put a 3l or even a 5L engine inside.
Mod the 2L fuel pump by putting a 3L spring in it....will go like a rocket.... |

thanks gotoy,
im doin it on the cheap benolux, already have the turbo and intercooler first ive heard about the pump spring tho might be worth looking into. everything else im going to make myself so the mod itself wont cost bugger all. i have looked into getting a 5L for it tho and is just too far outside my budget. cheapest engine i could find was from rollin auto in goldcoast it was a 2LT for $3K and i just dont have that sort of money.

i did this.
made a manifold and and bolted a CT20 to my early 2L(roller rockers).
had it tuned with no mod pump.
just turned fuel up.
not bad.
then i got the pump modded with the boost compensator.
cost about $1500.
but run heaps better.
more power, tourqe, better fuel economy all the things they say..
as for pyro ,mine runs at max 550 deg C.
and when it hits that when im hammering up hill.
but beware-it can end up costing a bit!i know mine did....
and mine runs 10psi no probs...
excess air in a diesel isnt to much of a prob.
cheers
