Just wondering if anyone knows a cheap source for 2-stroke oil that meets/exceeds JASO FD rating, most oils in shops seem to all be like $20-30 per litre. Otherwise they are 5l for $20 of FB rating

What is it for? FD is very high spec oil, if its something performance I would shell out for the good stuff.

For 2-stroke petrol engines, the JASO M345 (FA, FB, FC) standard is used, and this refers particularly low ash, lubricity, detergency, low smoke and exhaust blocking.

This might help you.

FC or FD are supposed to have a higher detergency and less smoke then FB

It's for a 70's aircooled suzuki 2 stroke. The cleaner she runs the better, i don't mind spending the money i just don't want to spend it on nifty packaging (i am sure the FB is 'good enough' but still i like to think old motors still benifit from new age oils)

Motul 510 or 800 will do you fine, and can be mixed fairly sparingly.
