whats the cheapest dual battery system (that isnt just a switch) mate keeps draining his battery with his stereo while its parked and wants to run dual batteries.

A constant duty solinoid switched by ignition. If its EFI fit a diode across the energise circuit to control voltage spike.

The Dick Smith / Jaycar kit is only $50. I built one up to put in my Feroza and am currently building one for the inlaws GQ.

RedARC make a smart solenoid for $119 that charges main battery then the second one. Also has provisions for an over ride dash mounted switch.

Highly recommended!
