depends what you want to do with it mate. you were given links to the BEST places to ask that question. here isnt it..

but because ur new.. i will lend a hand, nitro's DONT crawl, Electrics are clean, onroads arnt much fun offroad, and buggies arnt good if you want to bash it hard..

the BEST thing you can do is work out what you want to do with it..
do you want to run on concrete/carpet flat surface?
do you want to run it inside or outside?
do you want to take it down the oval and cut fast laps?
do you want to take it to some rocks and crawl?
do you want to go to a BMX track and clear the doubles?

can you actually AFFORD this hobby!? its actually more expensive than owning a zook....

research a little, work out what you want to do..

Mate.. if you are after a car to "bash" around on BMX tracks etc, have a look at the HPI Savage. But as foolsp33d mentioned it is not a cheap hobby, initially you would be looking at around the $1k mark just to get setup with a 1:8 or 1:10 scale car, and well into the $2k mark for a 1:5 scale car (Baja 5B etc) and should you go with a nitro car you will need plenty of patience to keep the machine running as they are tempermental.

As per my previous reply have a look at www.ausrc.com as there is plenty of info on the site and the guys aree more than willing to point you in the right direction.
