Hello,
Pulled apart my EL alternator to check the brushes - cant get it back together again. Every electrical motor thing I have played with before has a brush box removable/replaceable from the outside ... this doesn't seem too.
I was wondering if any of you smart electrical peoples can lead me in the correct direction to putting the damn thing back together .. I have tried pushing the brushes in with various objects whilst inserting the front section but to on avail.
Cheers

I've not done it myself, but I believe there should be a couple of small holes in the casing - push the brushes back, then insert pins in the holes to hold them while you assemble. |

yeh on the the rear case where the bearing sits,on the outside slide a small allen key in and push the brushes in and use the allen key to hold the brushes then assemble, depending on the brushes they will either have a small hole in the brush itself or you will have to push in as far as it will go and drill a small hole in it,
But be careful it is very easy to break them. |

OLD SCHOOL TRICK-
Tie cotton around the brushes
Pull them back to slide over the commutator
Snap the cotton
TOO EASY |
