I love the word "grouse." I don't think I use it enough. I use "gnarly" and "tops" a fair bit though!
I have had this argument many times, but is gnarly Australian or American? I think it depends on pronunciation - if it has aussie surfer drawl it is ours but if it twangs it is not?
Either way "tops" is definitely aussie.
Hooroo, I'm off to make a wig-wam for a goose's bridle,

I thought a bogan was a term for someone who lived in the city on the dole and smoked, drank lots and always wore a flanno.
Wouldn't the Aussie equivalent for redneck be a bushie or something? |

so what if kids are developing accents it happened already, where do you think the Aussie accent came from? Its what hapens when you get a mix of people with different languages and accents. it's called evolution.
F*ck people worry about the stupiewst things, better write a letter to the newspaper and get onto ACA to do a story about it |

The "Shrimp on the Barbie" word and and "Snag" has to go, and never heard any one say it, think its a Melbourne thing.
And people from Melborne add an A on end of sentance all the time. Like "I went for a drive a"
Its a farken Prawn and a Sausage, and a sentance dosnt end with a question, gawd dang melbournites |

Despite my Camberwell Grammar education, 15 years in NQ finds me saying "Ay" quite often.
"ot ay" translates to "the weather is somewhat on the warm side today, don't you think, old chap" |

Shrimp is an American term. No Aussie would ever call a prawn a shrimp. But the Yanks have no idea what a prawn is so when they tried using Hoges in an American add for Australia they had to use shrimp instead. |
