Not sure why but i have been thinking about getting an R33 Gts-t in the near future (maybe 6 months). I have always been into v8's but thinking of something different for now.
Anyone on here with experience give me an idea of what to get (cant afford an R34 or r33 GTR), what to look out for and is there a specific year or model to look out for? Strengths weaknesses in driveline.
Also for ppl who have played around with an rb25det what are the first simple mods and power gained.
Thanks in advance

Driveline is fairly sound in the series2 GTS-t's
Easy power is set of Splitfire coils and a computer. If you have anyone who can tune the Greedy E-Manage, it is one of the cheapest decent management setups, and being that it is a piggyback, you can still run a auto with it. Cat back will help it breath aswell.
I wouldn't boost it more than 11-12psi for weekly flogging, but 14-15psi is around the breaking point of the factory turbo.
Should be able to get a touch over 200rwKw with around a grand or so into it.
Watch out for the mitsubishi crank angle sensors tho, they tend to shiat themselves on the series 1 engines, and are around 800 new from nissan.
Price of R32 GTR's is down pretty cheap aswell.. Around 12-16k for a half decent one. |

make sure you get the red POD filter, cause RED air flows faster. |

Trying to find exact details, but was told rear diff got work, aswell as trans.
S2 has new ECU, Variable timing, nylon intake wheel on the turbo.
Other than that, you will just hear quite a few less problems with the S2's as far as reliability goes. But im sure there is someone on here who's cousins sisters uncle, can say otherwise.

You're wrong.
Obviously you've never driven a VL.
The best handling characteristics are achieved by cutting the springs to lower the centre of gravity and moving the seat back as far as it can possibly go. This allows you to sit back and keep your own COG down low.
I can't believe the misinformation which goes on around here. |

Ahhh.....A car I know well.
Series 2 has a nicer front end cosmetically, Series 2 also used the pull style clutch which is a heap more expensive than the more traditional push style clutch as used in the Series 1. The best upgrades are a front mount intercooler, an upgraded intake pipe between the airbox and turbo as with more than stock boost I have had a few suck themselves closed, a full exhaust and a tune. The power FC was the best plug in ECU that hass full factory function but are no longer made so they hold their value second hand, but can still be had cheaply if you look hard enough. Stock turbos dont like much more than 12-14 psi regularly as the ceramic turbine wheels can part company with the shaft in the turbo.
One I regularly work on has power FC computer, front mount cooler, full 3 inch exhaust, upgraded intake hose and a gt25-35 turbo and with standard injectors and makes about 230 rwkw on 16psi.
Best bet would be to get onto Skylinesaustralia.com all the info you could ever want is on there. |

Not here, Sky-Rines are plentiful, unlike in the states and canuck land |

I've always tinkered with the idea of an R32, but have always opted for the "practical" car rather than the fun car. I could never work out how i could carry my tools and tow trailers with a Skyline....
Obviously its completely dependant on driving style, but what sort of fuel consumption would an R32 (turbo) get??
Cheers |

Consumption is really dependent on how you drive and tuning obviously.
I put an Rb26dett from a GTR into mine and stock with exhaust was getting about 15l per 100 average driving, fitting adjustable cam gears and correcting the valve overlap and fitting a power FC and tuning it right it now gets about 12l per 100 with daily driving and not being a dickhead.
In jap tune, they are mega rich to compensate for their home altitude.
While the GTR is nice, as has been said, parts that are GTR specific are really expensive. The apprentice at work has an R34 GT4 which is N/A 2.5 awd, and as most driveline parts are GTR it costs him a fortune to repair.
For a bit of fun you cant go passed a GTS-t, and in Vic, now that P-platers are not allowed to drive turboed R33's or R34's, the price has come down a bit also. |

If you want a car that goes about as good as a 1L Zuk, you do have the option to go a RB20 R32 |
