scored a pair of the smallest light force spotlights(170 i think) from a friend the other day and i went to hook them up and noticed the bulbs were only 75W. is this standard and can i put some phillips 100w bulbs in without ruining the case?

The smallest lights are the Lance 140's. They come with the 75 watt bi-pin bulbs. Lightforce do not recommend placing a 100w halogen xeno-phot bulb in due to heat issues. Although, I would have a crack at it if your lights have the aluminium billet heatsink as the bulb base.
If it starts to melt anything, just stop and forget about it.
