I am planning to buy some Procomp shocks which will accomidate a 2" lift on my Safari (GQ) LWB. As I am in Canada, I will be ordering them from the US to cut down on shipping ocsts. Does anyone here have the right part numbers or can give me the lengths I will need for compressed and extended?

Hey champ I talked to the guy at procomp australia in melbourne he told me the procomp shocks were not strog enough for the gq and would sag very quick he recomended ride pro, efs or dobinsons I don't know if you can buy these brands over their or not just thought I'd give you the heads up.

Search. Plenty are using them.

I'd say that dude didnt have them in stock, or doesnt sell them, and was worried he'd lose a sale.

For every good story on EVERY shock, theres a bad story. Although havent heard bad about $800pr 90 series Konis yet #Rofl

Every application is different, as is every level of mods, tires, terrain, weight, etc so what may work for others may not work for u.

shocks dont hold the car up so how do they sag?
ranchos are the ones that overheat and never recover from what ive heard.

procomp are a bit softer and give a nicer rolly ride, took all the jolty-ness out of my GQ ute when i swapped to procomps from EFS.

i would go with them, for what they cost in the US you cant lose alot Wink

Whay don't you try bilsteins, I can get you the part numbers for them, and after using Ranchos, TJM's, OME, EFS I am very happy with them.
Go the monotube, you won't regret it.
Yes I already know they cost more, but you get what you pay for.
Unless you want a shock for crawling, with insane lengths ( and with a 2" lift who would) I am assuming you have a tourer, where the bilsteins are great.

Yes, I wanted the Procomp because I can get a set for not much more than $150 from Summit Racing Equiptment. Apparently they do free delivery in the US. I live about 6 kms from the border and I have a mail delivery address there.

I am waiting to hear back from the local ARB dealer for a price on the OME. He's pricing out springs and shocks. Off the top of his head, he said it would be about $800 for both. Seemed a bit on the low side.

I am looking for 50 mm lift heavy duty springs, as I will have a winch bar and winch for the front. With the kids and their friends I often have 7 passenger and when I just have the five of us and the dog, I will have the drawers in the back. I may add another 50 mm body lift later if I am not happy with the spring lift and 33" treads.

I ran Pro Comps in my SWB GQ with 3 and 4" lifts, no problems at all.
I have never heard of a sagging shock Confused

I will be running these on the GU shorty, but have to wait for my next oz holiday as they don't sell them in NZ, and its too expensive to send them over

Okay, I looked but don't see any product listing for a Nissan Patrol or Safari on any of the shocks. Anybody got a part number for the fronts and a part number for the rears for a 2" lift? Thanks.

Fronts: B46-1266
Rear: B46-1267

Thanks Chunks. I found the Australian Catalogue just a bit ago. Also, found your Koni Catalogue. Neither North American Catelogues have the numbers found in the Australian one. Bugger! Confused Looks like I am back to searching for Pro Comp numbers or bite the bullet and pay a lot more for the OME shockies.

These are the bilsteins I am running, and they are great
Highly reccommended. Never managed to get them to fade, even with my camper in tow.
I do run polyairs though....

I sell Procomps here in Australia. The comments I get back are that they give a soft but controlled ride. I don't usually sell them for a 2" lift because here in Aus other brands are cheaper for basically the same thing.

However for you the Procomps are a great solution.

I would be looking at 920560 for the fronts. I don't know if that part number exists so 921560 would be the go on the front.

On the rear I would be getting 925546. They are not so common in the US, that is with the big eye with rubber bush to suit the Patrol. It wouldn't be a big deal if you got 925506. They have the smaller eye but make sure you get the 19mm poly bush if you get the small eye shocks. If you can't get this length then 924546 or 924506 would do the job.

As I said I don't use the Procomps for the 2" lift so I don't really know the availability of the lengths I have given you but I do know it is much harder to get the shocks ending in 46 because they are not common in the US. This should be enough to go on.

The 9 is the series of shocks. The next 3 numbers is the approximate extended length of the shocks and the last 2 numbers is the end type and bush combination.

Now if you wanted a 3" lift or higher I would be more precise with what is available.

Ive had bad experiences with them. they did get treated hard thou. too soft in my opinion. there a cheap sock anyway. goodluck

Thanks for the part numbers Shane. This helps a lot. The first ones are not available but the second ones are. I will make sure I get the 19mm bushing.

I am also looking at ordering the 2" springs from ARB USA. Now according to my local ARB dealer, the guys at ARB USA think there should be more possibilities but they don't have it in their application guide: http://www.arbusa.com/USA-Vehicle-Application-Guides/Nissan-Patrol-GQ.pdf.

I have a winch bumper which weights in at near 150 lbs. Don't have a winch yet but am looking for a 24V 8274. So the front will be heavy. The back, when touring with the family, will also be quite loaded with possibley towing a small trailer. The front 110lb springs are OME975 and the heavier 110-240 lbs ones are OME976. Will the OME976 be heavy duty enough? For the rear there are just medium load to GVW OMEGQ2AM and constant 440 lbs to GVW OMEGQ02J. Which one do I go with? Are there others as the ARB guys seem to think there should be?

Yes these part numbers are correct. You are missing out on 20mm in flex with the Procomp rear shocks with that length compared to other brands however the next length up in the Procomps is a bit too long unfortunately.

I've only had one set of ProComps, and they were CRAP.

The top pins in the rears were HOLLOW, made of steel sheet folded into shape. Absolute and total crap - who the F$#k would build an offroad shocker like that? Procomp did/does.

The lower eyelet part was so thin it couldn't take a beating, and it burred on the edges after a bit of off-road work. that was on 3/4 shocks.

All the grommet things wore out in unde 10,000kms and virtually fell out of the damn things.

I'd never get a procomp again.

They cost $490 delivered, they have a lifetime warranty. Your alternative for a lifted vehicle that needs travel, is Rancho or Tough Dog. What shock did you end up with?
I would suggest you might of had the wrong shock length or you didn't alter your bump stops and over compressed them to stuff the Procomps like that.

I have sold a lot of these shocks with very few probs.

Having said the above, there is a shock coming out in a couple of months or so that is built more solidly, is adjustable and will be built in the longer lengths to suit a 3" lift and 4-5" lift and 6-7" lift.

No, I have never sold an MX6 however the word is that they didn't make the grade on a lifted GQ. It is the es9000 series you want if you have a 4" lift or bigger. If you have a 3" lift or less I would recommend Lovells shocks for most applications.

The Procomps will give you the soft comfort ride which is ideal for off road and quite often on road. Somtimes they are a bit too soft for some people.

It depends on the shocks you have not the lift. I haven't done much testing for this but if you have 27.5" shocks I recommend an inch and for 29.5" shocks I recommend 2 inches. I would like other people to confirm this. I did my testing on my GU but I don't know if Nissan did any changes over the years.

I ended up dropping my rear bumpstops about 10mm and that solved my scrubbing issues on the inner arches and shocks dont seem to be bottoming out (440mm compressed off the top of my head). This is on a GQ but the 07 GU seems to have exactly the same bumpstops.
