Personally, first year, 1 maybe 2 venues. then see how it is recieved.
NPWS should get behind this, but as Brendan says, forkorl chance. But contact them and see what they say... |

spoke to a friend of mine who has a few graphic designers at his sign shop about a logo. someone suggested a 4x4 with kids etc all smiling with a big red nose. they are going to come up with a few ideas for us.
will post something when i get it.
anyone else with ideas on logo or an official name for the day???
big thanx to Park Princess for all her work so far. may be a few jelly shots heading her way..!! |

We get a lot of stuff done through www.promotionsonly.com.au, the quality is great and the prices are reasonable. Depends on how many will be purchased.
A way of paying for the shirts might be to sell logo spaces on the back. But then you have to take into account that the shirt will need printing in full colour on the back as well as however many other colours on the front, which will add to the price. |

For a logo, I think you want something like a group shot of cars with kids...
Maybe a V shape of 4wds with a gap at the front of the V with kids there. Also taken from above so the splay out of cars is shown, with the kids too.
That way you cant miss the idea of the weekend - Kids and 4wds.
I dont think you want action shots, or cross ups, just keep it basic and simple
Hats off to Boner, who has REALLY put his effort where his mouth is - well and truly.
100 more Boners and 4wding would be top notch in this country. |

well i have an email back from SIDS, they now have to get onto one of their other offices who will then be liaising with me on the logistics of running a fundraising event.
what we have planed for the day is something like this...
sunday, 31 august at landcruiser mountain park, a family fun nav run (still tossing up the idea of an extreme nav run as well), sausage sizzle and presentations, lucky draws, and a live band.
everyone pays their entry into landcruiser park for the day (currently $25 per vehicle) then ALL this money goes to sids.
after i get all the formalities from sids, i will then start the process of contacting sponsors, media, etc.
suggestion - if this event goes well this year, then the suggestion about a different charity (eg, starlight, ones for the male population) could be used for next year? each year use a different charity? suggestion only
regards - amber |

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------HOW ABOUT THIS POSTED ON ANOTHER SITE
It's been suggested that (as far as I can read into it anyway) this should or will be run at 4wd parks/areas. EG: Stockton/LCMP
Will there be a convoy type thing on the way to said areas to increase awareness of the general public as to what we are doing?
Maybe not even doing a 4wd oriented thing at all.
Perhaps a drive through a few towns to a predesignated spot for a BBQ lunch at a highway rest area, public park area in town or such to acheive maximum impact.
I know locally the radio does a childrens christmas appeal and they have folks standing on the side of the road in appropriate locations where motorists can pull up and donate into a bucket. THANKS R/P .BONER |

Also might be worth getting onto the local childrens hospital/paediatric ward of local hospital etc...
And write a letter in your local newspaper to raise public awareness.
You're a good man boner, great idea! |

how good is is this going...!!!!!!!!!!!
we will be headin to cruiser from the sunnycoast, so a convoy sounds like a great idea. a few boys will be out there earlier, but the rest will go from here. we could organise to meet somewhere and travel through mooloolaba-kawana-caloundra strip then on to the park, maybe noosa too if people were keen. suspect we would have to police approval. would help with some of the mods i have seen up here.plus it would look cooool,
be good if we all had big red noses on our trucks too.
many coast crew keen???
what about small airiel flags..?? |

hey shano
i'm waiting to hear back form SIDS, as one of the things i want to ask them is if they would supply each vehicle the red nose (i think they have magnets these days rather then the plastic nose)... so i'll let you know about that at a later date. |
