Contact the SIDS people first, let them know what your planning.. otherwisee it could be seen as dodgey fi you dont have their approval..

EG collecting money for a charity when you dont have permission is jail time.

Top idea.

A yearly thing would be good too...

I also thought of a blood challenge. State by state.

Currently the motorcyclists have a challenge against the coppers! Has been going for years... Just for bragging rights really....

I have a hideous fear of needles, was awesome having 3 a day for ~3mths, and then blood tests each 3hs when I got Golden Staph in St George...

It maybe easier for you to call them, and discuss the whole situation and your plans in person. Since you know what you want to say. You dont have to be a speech writer to let them know.

Not much support so far, which is pretty disappointing.
Maybe something to plan for somtime in MAY/June, and then throw an ad into 4b mags (maybe hit them for some bux too, as well as free ads and coverage), post up on lots of 4wd forums, to maximise th coverage and turnout.

Maybe find out if someone from Qld would take the task on and see if they coud do it at one of the 4wd parks.

Maybe Victorians could do Wonangatta area..

South Aust people Robe or Warraweena Station...

who knows, depends on how big you wish it to be.

would love to help with something like this. we have a fair crew up here who race at cruiser all the time and would definately be starters. maybe we should approach cruiser park for a fun day money raiser?? on a rough count i could get about 15-20 trucks. maybe we should talk to park princess and festa?? too good of a cause to do nothing.
i am sure scooter would get us plenty of coverage as he is the local papers photographer and always at the park. maybe grab a local celeb or 2 and get some shots of them sh1tting their pants on certain tracks.

we are in.

boner if you need someone to write a letter let me know the details and I can bang it together.

Also another fund raiser could be some raffles... I'd be more than happy to donate some subscriptions to the mag to raffle off in each state if it gets going too.

I'd be up for a SIDS run but think I'd come across the border for the Vic one if it's somewhere decent (not just a beach run). Dunno about there being enough Outer's members in SA ... our offroading is pretty limited....

This is something that the 4WD community always seems to struggle to pull off, it is about time something like this grew wings and flew.

Boner who is going to plan the days and in particular how the money gets raised?

Do the SIDS people seem agreeable to the idea?

I would be happy to promote this over at ToyotaSurf.ASN but then the admin from here could contact admin from other sites to make the promotion a site promotion rather than from one member.

Letters to all the major 4B mags seeking promotion would help too.

I do think it will be best off planned for a while then promoted with plenty of notice.

Just throwing some ideas into the ring.

Cheers

great idea, this is a worthy cause and needs alot of planning to get right. i dont think something this important should be rushed. id like to help if i can. how about a vehicle sticker thats says "sids 4x4 rally/cruise 08" or something similar. every vehicle pays entry fee which includes said vehicle sticker and red nose/hat+shirt or whatever. just a suggestion. this is the best idea ive heard all day. ill be watching this post closely.

I think its a great idea and i will talk to some people up queensland way and see what we can pull off????
Would be great if we could do say a run to the kids hospital in all types of fourbys or say a mass trip to cruiser park with all park fees going to sids bar a couple of bucks to alben.

Man this could be to a great cause aswell as promoting ourselfs as decent people as we are.

Any other queenslanders got some good ideas and maybe keen to take this on with myself to get going???

I am keen as duckshyt after reading the very sad threads from a few members in the past week. ( yes they got the small tears going in me)
I have a 2 week old son Bailey who was wisked away as soon as he was born as he was having alot of trouble breathing. i tell ya my heart sunk and for the first time in my life i felt absolutly useless and in absolute dispair. Then my wife was hemraging ( spelling) pretty bad and i dont think ive had a good night sleep since he was born as ive been on edge making shore he is breathing. And he is our fourth. So i would hate to imagine what some parents go thru with there dearest. But as a whole ' and there are large numbers of us ' we can make a diffrence! so lets bloody do it.
