Buggy or Truck, doesn't matter anymore. The vehicle rules are so far from reality its not funny. Tuff Truck is just a name now, it should be called Tuff Rig or Tuff Stuff.
You have to ask yourself why TT still want the vehicles to be registered when 90% of the vehicles are non road worthy, and most of the rego's are bodgey anyways.

Missed this years event Crying or Very sad
But I'd be curious to know if they actually asked for an engineering cert in scrutineering?
Cause agree with it or not that is the rules and if the vehicle is built & engineered to those specs then great stuff....if not then the comments about "buggys" is very valid and SHOULD have been enforced.

Personally I'd prefer to see the engineering cert remain, but be enforced. I want to see how far vehiles can be modified within the rules to work......not how well someone can build a buggy......Oh yeah and I personally like to see sheet metal damage not scratched tube Very Happy

Here is a sierra that competed against some of the best in australia and came 29th out of 40. And only had point from 7 out of 9 stages. This sierra is a daily driver and up until the latest modifications (rear 4 link and 3.1 TD and 39s) was completely engineered and driven daily.

Regards competitor camping how should it be controlled. Should TTC put up a 6 foot fence (ATF style) and only allow competitors and pit crew inside and have all friends and family camp somewhere else. That is very cold and unfriendly approach however it solves all problems mentioned, I know of probably about seven competitors who would not show up if there family could not camp with them. I personal would hate the sport to travel in this direction.

It is very unfortunate that some low life disrespecting light fingered scum sucking thief. I heard that banners that were put up on trees by a cherry picker were taken down by similar people on Friday night before even the events had started. Really what is someone going to do with a five foot by eight foot banners.

What about a 6 foot fence and have official passes/a guest list for compeditors families?

or have the vehicle/pits in a seperate area, with 6 foot high fences, and some form of lockup for tools/parts, and have the compeditors camping area away from it, at least minimising the amount of valuables (tools etc in the camping area minimised?)

But easier said than done, I acknowledge that, and respect the efforts of the organisers. Great event, truck standard is way up this year. armsup armsup

...don't forget that Top Truck is a no spectator event... only competitors and media. The focus is much more on media coverage rather than getting alot of spectators through the gate.

Sounds good in theory but it won't work?? It just comes down to we have to be more protective of our possessions and maybe have someone at camp all the time, which is what ended up happening with us and other crews. Shame though as we/they missed out on some of the cool drives.

I will say that we camped near the hill last year. As PK was the only competitor and as there were a few of us in the club. We left the nissan in the competitors camp (most of the time). NOT a thing went missing!!! Must be the thrill of jumping into somewhere where they no they are not allowed to go..

I know have a new phone at the expence of these worthless people. cussing cussing cussing Lesson very well learnt though

Like your ideas Gigantor.
Dont stop the awsome fabrication let them push it as far as they can Idea
But just make shore that they retain the look of a production class vehicle.
I think the problem most have is that they are supposed to be road regod Rolling Eyes Piss that off just make em look like a truck. As in the case of the red zook it looks like a zook and can be easily identified as a zook Perfect. Just dont make em go thru all the crap of having rego to drive it in a few comps.
Throw in some other rules for 2 seats and width and all that crap and it can all move forward. Maybe evan have a seperate class for regod trucks? If they dont comply on the day then throw em into the top class? I think like this then we would start seeing what people like Rusty Dobbins Pete Kneck and the likes can realy build.
Now that to me would really start pushing it forward.

I think that keeping the original look of the vehcile their trying to build is the key.
I think that rego is stupid.
I also think that two classes is un nessasary becauce they have evnts for low bugdet teams already , willowglen, nissan trials, etc.

Tuff Truck was designed to bring on the best you can build and see how it holds up , i think ?

Anyway congratulations to everyones vehcile because they all require the same amount of time and dedication as each other, as well as the drivers and navi`s cause if you can`t drive it at the end of the day your results will show that, as well as the preperation that has gone in.

i wasnt asked for an engineer's cert at scrutineering!

i agree with the fact they should be engineered and so on....if ya want to comp a buggy go in WeRock or the likes....still was a greak wkend

Maybe people camping in the competitors area get different coloured wrist bands. Anybody else isn't allowed in there. This doesn't stop other competitors or "crew" ripping stuff off but maybe the number of "crew" could be set at a limited number.

Not sure if this already happens but.....just a thought. If only it was as easy as BANNING thieves!!!!

Competitors & pit crew get a different wrist band. Gen Public had red while we had blue.

When Tony was around he was shoeing them out. But as soon as he left they were back.

The thing is when you asked them to leave they would look at you stupid, and continue on their merry way around the camp.....

What is the go with the next generation??? Sorry to those of you whom have respect.

When I was on the gate on Friday night some of fella's coming through would do as they pleased. I raised my voice but to no avail. Also when we had to tell them that they couldn't park their cars near Mudrat Revenge, oh dear did I get a mouth full and if looks could kill..... I stood my ground and threatened 3 guys with security, they left quick smart after a few choice words.

I wonder what they are like at home with their parents??? Do they treat them this way? I know my girls try it with me and they are sent to their rooms quick smart. We have a chat after a while (I also yell a lot) and they say sorry. Whoops gone off track.

Anyway my point is the TT committee do a lot to make this event run smoothly, when people like this come in and disrupt it, it just puts a dampener on everything.

WAKE UP IF YOU ARE READING AND HAVE SOME APPRECIATION FOR THOSE OF US WHO LOVE, ENJOY AND RESPECT THIS SPORT.

Stella

Well looking at the final scores there really wasnt alot in it, altho would of liked to see the points from each run rather than where we came, but was fairlt close all round congrats to everyone who had a go. Whether you win or not we can all say we had a go.

Just came back from a week away for work after Tuff truck which is cool cos now i have 5 pages of TTC stuff to read here.

Just thought id single out gonads and Bob in the Red Bitch. These guys may not have placed high, but they drive to please the crowd and satisfy their over active adrenalin glands. If i was a sponser these guys would be my choice. Man they must have a huge damage bill after a comp.

The Rock Garden was an unbeleivable course to watch. Drives of the weekend for sure was gonads and Bob on the rock garden, also Dan in the Vit Suzi Q and Phil Noble on said course, and Suzi Q on frame twister. It is unreal to watch these guys, who spend shiteloads of coin and time and effort to build these rigs absolutely destroy them in 5 seconds flat.

Fawk Yeah, bring on TT09. armsup armsup armsup armsup
