I'd have to agree with Turbo GU, the mud needs to be revamped along with some of the daytime recoveries. Those small kato's wouldn't pull the skin off a rice custard at full jib let alone a 2 tonne truck jambed up against the rocks..... Certainly an area for improving.

Team Drovers rollover on Sunday was a close call for those spectators. I stood right there on Saturday and watched Red Bitch do the same thing, thankfully for my sake, not as bad. Then there was the runaway tyre. That could have been much worse...... I wonder what penalty the pirate team got for that.

Crowd favourite would have to have been the "fridge". It seemed to go most places that you wouldnt expect a station wagon to go.

Not sure what happened late saturday arvo but I headed back to camp when the action slowed mid afternoon. Only to see Bandage bear come back with a broken portal, Gonads with a broken front diff and red bitch with the front wheel assembly ripped off....... Lesson to self, dont leave the track too early.

Well done to all competitors. My money was on ZUK404, but wasnt to be. Maybe next year guys.
Will upload some pics to the Well Sprung website soon.

We got the normal penalty for it, i was greatfull that no one was hurt could of been really bad was just an overlook on my part in all the excitment. The thing that bugs me is that one of my mates brought it to the judges attention and also trying to get my att but i didnt hear him, and was told to be shut up(outside assistance) we should of been stoped stop the clock give us a penalty and made to remove the tire before it had a chance to fall off, not passing the buck was my fault it was on there just saying if that sort of stuff is picked up something should be done about it before it came off and could of seriously hurt somebody my 2c

that was me ben !!!
i heard hypo yell something out , & told him to stop the outside assistance , as bandage bear was nearly penalised the day before !! hey ruff !!! Very Happy
if it was made clearer what was happening , i would have stopped you guys & removed the tyre !!

we are all lucky no one was hurt !!

Sorry moose wasnt having a go at anyone was jsut saying it cause it could of been alot worse wasnt sure if you guys new what was happening or not cause i didnt would of stoped for sure if i had remembered about it i personaly dont think we should have to carry it around not as if were going to change it anyway would then elliminate the possibility of it happening agian.

That outside assistance rule is the biggest crock of shit rule in the whole comp and must dropped for next year.

How can a team have any control whatsoever over what is yelled from the side lines by eager spectators? If some one yells out to move a rock and the navvy was already on there way to move it anyway, why should that theam be penalised.
Doesn't make any sense to me at all. Rolling Eyes

Great looking rigs this year, rusty's zook buggy was the standout, yes it is a buggy, get the fawk over it! It would be great to see it at a we rock event or two, see what it's really made of.

Just got the word that Team Bandage Bear has managed to raise $9031 for the Westmead Childrens Hospital! This is NOT including the $1000 he gave to Jamie at the presentation!!

WHAT A SENSATIONAL EFFORT!!! armsup armsup armsup armsup

Congratulations to all involved, to all who bought a vote, magazine or a bear, or just gave a donation, no matter how small. Well done.

I feel all warm and fuzzy inside now!

Dont worry if Mark got penalised i was going to make sure every single competitor there got the same penalty at some stage through the event just to even the score back up The Finger

The Outside assistance rule is bullshit. It happens all the time and it is totaly impossible for it to be policed unless you remove every spectator or support crew from the event.

I'd have to agree with Turbo GU, the mud needs to be revamped along with some of the daytime recoveries. Those small kato's wouldn't pull the skin off a rice custard at full jib let alone a 2 tonne truck jambed up against the rocks..... Certainly an area for improving.

Not sure what happened late saturday arvo but I headed back to camp when the action slowed mid afternoon. i also agree with the rule of carrying a spare, its garbage, we were told we had to carry it to each event and drop it off at the start and pick it up at the end, now, from memory, Phil Noble, and Mal, i did not see them carry there spare once, thou i did see a certain GU ute follow the, around evrywhere, with their spare tire on board, now one rule for all, or scrap the rule all together,

I didn't carry my spare around either. I figured by the time I got the other tyre off if i did need to replace it a mate could had had it sitting beside me ready to go.

The spectators area is crammed up enough as it is without everyone dragging there spare tyres around up there too. A spare tyre is usually the least of anyones problems on them tracks anyway. Laughing Laughing

Hay Garth Read back thru my comments and tell me where ive said anything about putting the zook buggy down?
I acctually said it has raised the bar in good looking pro mod buggys.
And i do acctually love the look of it. Good work.
My problem is the rules for tuff truck. I didnt go this year no but have followed it closly and there is a huge gap as others have mentioned to the less budget real trucks.
Yeah the event may be heading in this direction with buggys being passed off as trucks and it is alot of peoples cup of tea. And i also mentioned in this thread about at the end of the day the vehicles are built to an inch of the rules so they have as much right to be there as bobs old 40 with 33s and 2inch lift.
It is great to see the envelope being pushed further and further. But at least they could come up with 2 classes to make it a bit fair.
Oh the 3 ft of chassis comment was posted after it was asked dont they have to have 3 ft of chassis by somebody.
And mate i have built my own but its for social wheeling with the odd crawl comp thrown in. As it is a buggy. Plus she aint got no rego on it ( Yet )
Anyway hope to see more of the zook buggy as it is a very nice looking vehicle with some very cool looking gear on it.
Perhaps post up specs like drivetrain( except the supercheap diffs Laughing ) for us that didnt go this year?
Cheers Nottie

this is what i hate, it is in the rules that you must carry your spare to each event, and drop it at the start, why is it right for some to decide not to carry it, but others obide by the rules and do as asked?

Tony Can it be turned in to a pro mod with not much fuss? as it could be a real top looking pro mod buggy.

Without measuring the width. It needs 37" tyres, Rear steer locked out, some form of front guard/fender and the chassie would need to be extended at the front.

I have no idea how to post someone elses qoute in here nor do i care. Phil and i both asked the question as to whether we were allowed to carry the spares on the back of the ute. especially since phil has 49s. We were told yes. Maybe you should ask next time.

well i agree its a good thing you guys asked and were told it was okay, but it still comes down to what tohers were told, we were told a pre scriteneering, and also scriteneering on the day at TT, and we were told once again, that we must carry our own spare too and from each event,

im just saying that the rule of carrying a spare should be scrapped, sould only be compulsare to have one on the site, worst case should only be carried to the mystery night stage as it is some distance away

Hi guys

On a different note I would like to ask about security. Nothing against the organisers as I know they had a lot on their plate, but...... There were spectators everywhere in the competitors camp.

From previous years that we have been a spectator we have been forbiden to go in to the competitors camp (for obvious reasons), why was this year different???

Where we were camped (near the toilets) the spectators were jumping the fence and walking straight though our camp and through the main gate. Although I do feel bad as myself and one of our campers told one of Mick and Bowies helpers to POQ!!! Sorry about that. But at that time we had, had things stolen and were just plain p*%#d off. Our club members were camped with us so, we picked a spot that we could all be together (we had organised this previously) hence stuff went missing, my mobile included!!! My fault for not putting it away I know. Not impressed though.

Now there were some very respectful watchers there this weekend, but there were a lot that were just plain DISRESPECTFUL... Very disapointing. I hope next year will be different?

We have young children, they have more respect than these people did.

This is only my opinion, if you agree thats great but if not tough.

Stella

Does anyone have any pics of team Run-a-muck on the ramp? I'm interested to know how it out-ramped Phill's GU, since it has some serious suspension work.

i have a feeling that they have mixed up the results page and Team Runamuck won the night stage and Phil won the ramp..there is no way the Mog could have out ramped Phils car as it is still running the exact same setup as when Mick and Sam both had it and it has never ramped its wheelbase before which phils truck can do easily

Where we were camped (near the toilets) the spectators were jumping the fence and walking straight though our camp and through the main gate. Although I do feel bad as myself and one of our campers told one of Mick and Bowies helpers to POQ!!! Sorry about that.

No worries. Laughing Laughing

I didn't ever hear about it until now. Confused

I know exactly what you mean about people coming threw the camp sites though. We had several drunks wander threw on the Friday night which were told to piss off. This one bloke come over and was telling Troy "rough as guts" how to weld a tail shaft up and got a little shitty when he was told to piss off.

Luckily we had someone at camp almost all the time but everything was locked up just the same. This is an area where the security really needs to be stepped up a fair bit.

Cheers Mick.

Well done to everyone! - couldn't make it there - but the pics are great!

And well done to Mal V for 2 great finishes in 2 yrs. That bushrangie is awesome.

Bring on the Suggys/Suzgys/Ruggys/Truggies, etc. So long as the fit with in the rules!!!!!!!! That red Suggy is the coolest Suzi I have ever seen.

But - WHY oh WHY do they STILL have the rule about vehicles being registered and all mods approved?????!?!!?!?!?!? There can't be a single vehicle in TT which conforms??? Is it just there to fool the insurance company.

Buggy or Truck, doesn't matter anymore. The vehicle rules are so far from reality its not funny. Tuff Truck is just a name now, it should be called Tuff Rig or Tuff Stuff.
You have to ask yourself why TT still want the vehicles to be registered when 90% of the vehicles are non road worthy, and most of the rego's are bodgey anyways.
They should piss the rego rule off and just make a set of rules to build a truck too and thats it.
Or like others have mention, different classes of tuff trucks.
Don't stop these awesome rigs being built, we need to encourage more, but we need also to make the rules right.

It wouldn't surprise me they still rely on the rego of the truck to cover against third party accidents on the track. If they do than that too also needs addressing. If they don't well why have rego? Rolling Eyes

TT is a great event, always has been, but the vehicle rules are to far gone to now be addressed and we now need to move on and like others have said raise the bar, piss the rego off and create vehicle classes which will work and make the sport grow.
Pissing the rego off will only make the sport grow and easier for trucks to be built without trying to find or pay engineers $$$$$ to pay for engineering certificates which aren't worth the paper their written on.
No use any body complaining about the rigs, they wouldn't be competing if their rigs were built outside the rules.
What I think has happened the event has out grown the rules and now the rules are holding the event/sport back. Confused
Vehicle rules for TT competition registered vehicles are a bit like Australian Law, too flexible and no enforcement. Very Happy
What do they want? awesome Rigs armsup or registered Trucks Crying or Very sad or perhaps both armsup Very Happy armsup

Run what ya brung, and hope ya brung enough. If the gap between 1st and 40th is too great then reduce the field? I like the Top Truck format (some of it anyway) from the States.

But easier said than done, I acknowledge that, and respect the efforts of the organisers. Great event, truck standard is way up this year. armsup armsup

the paradox being, that if a claim was made against a third pary policy it would fail, as the policy is void if the vehicle is being driven in a competition. This exclusion is found in every third party insurance policy.

it is irresponsible to rely on the third party policy to pick up claims for injured spectators/competitors.

What happens when someone does get hurt and there is no insurance?
