Well the boys on the other forum were excellent. I copied the same message into the forum and waited for a weekend to pass and there was a stack of knowledgible replies.

Three of the guys suggested that bottom end bearings in a serviced Jackaroo should never go at 150K and they had experience with failing Timing Belt tensioners sounding like bottom end bearings!!!!

So armed with that courage I got a towie and sent it into the mechanics. The found that my timing belt cover had a crack in it which had allowed moisture to creep into that area. The two minor push pulleys and the tension idler pulley had all rusted and siezed solid! Resultantly the belt had headted up, worn out and skipped teeth.

Be careful boys about this...the Holden guys said that they have seen it a fair bit in recent years as the plastic covers break down they let the evil rust creep into that area which is not protected from corrosion.

The Idler Pulley is $500+ to replace and they had none in country genuine.

Anyhow...the little beast is back on the road and running perfectly...You can see why i am now a happy camper considering that before getting on the forums i was looking at $6-$8K for a recondition or more for an engine conversion. Thanks again guys.
