Having just finished the 60 series power steering conversion on my 82 40 series which turned out to be a bigger job than I thought, anyway I tried to cut costs by keeping the stock column and using a bearing and fabbing a support post before the 2 uni joints in the position where the stock steering box mounting pedestal was...took it for a drive for the first time today and am not happy with the result as steering feels stiffer and harder to turn than with the old set up.
So my thinking is that I should really be using fj55 column and 75 series intermediate shaft....anyone have a spare set of these or know a wrecker who may have them? please let me me know preferably in the Sydney area....
Cheers,
Eddy.
