I was talking to Evan from Mud Rhino over the weekend re progress with the DVD.
He says they had 1.5 terrabites (way way more than a winch challenge) of footage and almost all worthy of showing. Thanks to everyone who has provided footage. They are now in the process of putting stages together.
We hope to see the first cut in about 3 weeks and then soon after it gets mass produced.
It will be a double DVD with minimal talking and more V8 sound and rock music.
Will keep you posted. |

Thanks Mr Moose - technology got the better of me again.
I copied from Mud Rhino and pasted into OL (they seem to be same software so it could work). But I received a SQL error so I tried something else. Kept getting same SQL error so I gave up in the end, grabbed a can and hit up Foxtel for company instead.
Could not obtain topic watch information
DEBUG MODE
SQL Error : 2006 MySQL server has gone away
SELECT topic_id FROM phpbb_topics_watch WHERE topic_id = 115394 AND user_id = 631
Line : 717
File : functions_post.php
Bugger me dead the last 3 worked but took a while to come through.
Seems this error is happening a bit lately and unrelated to what I was trying to do... |

hahah thanks hobzee, yeh i will do some more pics, working on the dvd so am a bit busy
But on another note, the reason i came into this thread was to ask about the handheld MIG welder that someone had at the comp. I saw a bloke using it on the buggy (it wasnt the the guy who drove the buggy, it wassomeone else's), it was just hooked up to 2 deep cycle batteries some guy had, and you press the trigger, and it had its own coil of wire that it unreeled and welded stuff!! where do you get them from, and how much? Anyone else see it? |

I didnt see the welder in question but i know Rob (with the buggy) was using a welder on his steering arm. I beleve that it belonged to the fellas that had the dark blue GQ trayback that had some bad luck and rolled it in a wash out. Youd remember them because they had a tip truck and trailer for transport. They were great guys. They came loaded with tools , migs, oxys, generators, 9 inch grinders, you name it, and they were lending the use of them to lots of people. Thats what is awesome about the cliffhanger set up. Everyone is more than happy mostly to help out anyone if they have the means. If you were to get in touch with Rob (i think his outers id is "burbon") he would be able to tell you the name of the fella whos welder he was using.

Hi Guys
I was welding up the buggy A frame, it is called a READY WELDER, a few people around sell them, or I got mine from the states. It is awesome. You can also get a 240v adaptor for them and it has the gas connection as well.
cheers

I was the idiot slurring his words while holding a video camera on you guys while doing that. MaccasMQ at least took note of the cool porta welder.
It's all coming back now!

No they are not all the same!!!
Some designs simply DONOT work.
One of the best i have seen is the Ground Grabber. Roger Smith sells them. Check out http://www.secondair.com/dynamicarope/dproducts.htm
Have used this at 2 cliffhangers and an OBC. It works.

I and quite a few others use the Pull Pal,they don't bury themselves like other anchors & are usually much easier to get back out of the ground, this company also does the Under bonnet welders

That is some awsome footage Steve. If the actual DVD is half as good as that clip then you are on a winner.
Bring on 2009. |
